Description

Who was Jean Lassale? Jean Lassale was a Swiss watch brand founded in 1976 in Geneva by Jean Bouchet-Lassale. The company specialized in ultra-thin mechanical watches, including the famous caliber 1200, only 1.2 mm thick — one of the thinnest movements ever made. Despite its technical brilliance, the brand faced financial difficulties in the late 1970s. The Role of Seiko Around 1979, Seiko acquired Jean Lassale. After the acquisition, Seiko launched a “Seiko Lassale” line — a premium/luxury collection that blended Seiko’s quartz technology with the elegant, ultra-thin design philosophy of Jean Lassale. These watches often carried the “Seiko Lassale” or simply “Lassale” branding and were marketed as refined, high-end dress watches within Seiko’s lineup.
