Designed by Gerald Genta, the Royal Oak is the flagship model of the legendary watchmaker, and these early models enjoyed meteoric popularity; finding a fine example has become increasingly difficult. This particular model is two-tone, in stainless steel and yellow gold, reference "5402SA". As with the stainless steel 5402, the very first examples of ref. 5402SA exhibit the applied AP logo at 6 o’clock, which would later move to the 12 o’clock position.
